
Merlewood Primary bids farewell to two long standing teachers of the school, Nazlee Jaffar and Llewellyn Lecordier.
These are two stalwarts of the school. Ms Jaffar joined the staff in 1992 and Mr Lecordier started his career in education at the school in 1981.
During Ms Jaffar’s 28 year tenure, she was a vital part of the school management team, school development team and PRO for the school as the head of the scribe’s committee always making sure that our accolades feature in the South Coast Herald.
For many years she served as the presiding officer for student governing body elections, department of education representative on interview committees and initiated school magazines.
Ms Jaffar has gone beyond the call of duty to assist needy learners, especially in the immediate community.
She is known to have taken on the local and provincial department of social development to assist learners who have experienced neglect and abuse at home.
Mr Lecordier, now a senior teacher, joined the staff of Merlewood Primary in 1981.
He has served education in the institution for the almost 40 years.
He has definitely been a pillar in the mathematics department at Merlewood Primary and he also taught Technology and Science.
The staff and learners would like to wish both educators well.
