25 Year jail sentence for rapist

The investigating officer in the case was Detective Sergeant Sifiso Gigaba.

Mpisi Anton Nzama (43) was recently sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for rape and a further five years for kidnapping.

He remained in custody throughout his trial.

On June 18 in 2019, a woman (18) was on her way home after a ceremony and stopped to get a drink of water in the Qwabe area Mehlomnyama.

Nzama then grabbed her and forced her into his room where he raped her and forcibly kept her overnight.

After the woman reported the rape, Nzama was arrested by police and made several subsequent court appearances in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court.

The investigating officer in the case was Detective Sergeant Sifiso Gigaba of Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
