Herald Fishing: Bream surprise for fisherman

Steven Moodley caught two for the price of one.

Windy and rainy weather over the weekend was not enough to halt fishing activities for our local fishermen.

Roy Mothee, visiting from Johannesburg, braved the weather and reeled in a 4.4kg salmon at Margate fishing pier, using sardine and chokka mix as bait. “I was determined to catch a salmon, and a salmon is what I got thankfully.”

A little further down the coast, in Munster, Steven Moodley of Marburg, who’s a member of Hardthrow Fishing Club caught two for the price of one.

After a bit of waiting, a tug on Steven’s line saw a copper bream on the other end. Using prawns as bait, he was able to reel in not one but two fish, much to his surprise.
