Municipality to investigate the collapse of pedestrian bridge inland of Margate

The municipality is currently investigating the incident.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the collapse of a pedestrian bridge which left two people injured in the Mvutshini area, inland of Margate.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 16 at around 13:29.

Netcare 911 paramedics responded and found that two men were injured when a steel and concrete pedestrian bridge collapsed.

Medics treated both patients who had sustained fractures to their lower limbs.

Municipal spokesman, Simon April said the municipality has through the ward councillor received a report about the incident.

“There is currently an investigation on the circumstances in which the whole incident took place, but also on what could have been the cause including whether is there anyone who should be held liable.”
