Clive Horlock to talk on culture of the Bushmen at Ivungu River Conservancy

There is no entrance fee but the conservancy will have a donation box which will be given to Clive to further his studies and observations.

The Ivungu River Conservancy is delighted to confirm that Clive Horlock, recently back from his latest travels in the Kalahari is booked to share his insights, adventures and love of the Bushmen and their culture, right here on the South Coast.

The event will be held at the Uvongo Tennis Club in Edward Road on Wednesday, May 18 at 17:30 for 18:00.

Clive completed a BSc at the University of Natal before entering the teaching profession. After leaving teaching he entered the private sector where he established a number of small businesses.

He then worked in the corporate sector for five years as general manager of South Africa’s first rural solar electrification programme. His science and education background served him well in this position as did his ability to speak African languages as he had to work extensively with rural African communities.

Clive’s passion has always been the outdoors. His wish is to see more people having the opportunity to experience the real Africa, its animals, and its rural people, and in so doing to also reconnect with the natural world.

This wish led him to establish his own Walking Safaris venture called Get Real Africa, which brought him into contact with Bushmen and as he says, completely transformed his life.

He has become particularly interested in understanding the reasons for the sustainable existence and general well-being of the Bushmen over tens of thousands of years, even in seemingly inhospitable environments, as opposed to the behaviour and culture of humankind today which is bringing us to the brink of extinction.

All are welcome.

There is no entrance fee but the conservancy will have a donation box which will be given to Craig to further his studies and observations into the Bushmen culture.

Supper will be provided by the conservancy,  a delicious vegetable or beef stew.

Supper is free of charge but a small donation will be welcome for those who would like to ‘pay’ for their supper.

Although there is no charge or tickets, let the conservancy know if you will be attending as seats are limited and will be on a first come, first served basis. Call or WhatsApp Sarah on 083 3313866 or email: snc1@mweb.co.za
