The sun was out, and a crowd of people gathered on the main beachfront to enjoy all the fun and games.
Due to the amazing work Tidy Town Shelly to Margate has done by cleaning up the town and beach, and bringing good and positive vibes back to Margate, a group of South Coasters called Margate Jamz is behind organising events.
This was a first beach event for organisers, Jacques Naudé Kunz, Surina Smuts, Stephen Herbst, Brandon Lehmann, Roland van Rooyen and Jo-Ellen Hannaway of Margate Jamz – and it was a massive success.
Businessman Stephen Herbst was behind the mic for most of the day.
He said it is a collective push to make Margate a safe environment for families and friends, while the focus will be on keeping the town clean and free of drinking in public.
“Thanks to the help of law enforcement, security companies, Netcare 911 and the Saps for making this day possible,” he added.
Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate has grown from strength to strength and the team is seeing a great following with over 7000 followers on its Facebook page.
They are also going to be launching an outdoor cinema evening on the beach front at the old Margate amphitheatre.
Make sure you support the volleyball compo on Friday, May 27, and a Grove Movie Night at the Margate amphitheatre on Saturday, June 18.
