Locals learn about long range shooting

There were many smaller calibres given a go and shottists were impressed at the distances their rifles can shoot.

The Alfred County branch of the KwaZulu-Natal Hunting, Shooting and Conservation Association held a successful long-range shooting demo at Bonniebrae Farm, Oribi Gorge recently.

The shooting demo was hosted by Simms Arms where some beautiful firearms with exceptional optics were on display.

Those who attended were given the opportunity to shoot some of the most phenomenal calibres, such as the BMG .50cal, 375 Cheytac, 33XC, 300 Norma Mag, .338 Win Mag.

Some of these rifles where shot at distances of up to 1.3km range.

Thanks were extended to Peet Thuynsma and Neil Arlow for their efforts in hosting the day and showing shottists about long range shooting.

The day ended with a bring and braai and members look forward to the next range day.
