Trio caught with multiple Sassa cards and cash

Two women and a man, aged between 25 and 45, were arrested for possession of stolen property, after they were found with 50 Sassa cards, 20 Easy pay cards and R34 000 cash last Friday

“The official decided to join the queue to monitor them and saw them with numerous Sassa and bank cards that they were using to withdraw cash,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, provincial police spokesperson.
Once of the three suspects realised they were being observed, and they fled the scene in their vehicle.
Umkomaas Saps was alerted and began monitoring the vehicle.
The suspects then moved to another ATM and the vehicle was spotted in the parking lot.
“They were spotted withdrawing and transferring money at the ATM, and as they returned to their vehicle, police were waiting for them,” added Gwala.
It was also established that the suspects transferred R360 000 into a private bank account.
More charges are expected to be added and they will appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court soon.
