After an absence of two years due to Covid, the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast hosted its annual Grannies Walk for the 36th time.
The rain could not keep the faithful supporters away, and more than 130 brave people participated, some of them in their eighties.

Gladys (surname unknown), one of the regular walkers, said it was her 15th Grannies Walk in which she participated.
An after-breakfast show from a few whales and dolphins close to the shore of St Michaels Beach rounded the morning’s activities off with a warm feeling of “wow, it is great to be alive”.
Event coordinator, Past President Brian Blumrick said they are thankful for the generosity of the local businesses, individuals and fellow Rotarians.
“It has been a challenging time for all of us in KZN, especially after the riots and recent damages from the mudslides. The Ubuntu spirit prevailed, and together we managed to allow our senior citizens to socialise with friends.”
Some R34 000 was raised of which R5000 has been allocated to Tidy Towns, that is doing outstanding work around the Hibiscus Coast.
The balance of the proceeds will be used for the club’s ongoing projects such as the Centre of Concern, Inathi Child and Youth Care Centre, Rotary Community Corps outreach projects, vocational training as well as assisting with Margate Child Welfare’s relocation.
