Umzinto cleaned for Mandela Day
A number of different leadership groups all made valuable contributions.
Umzinto benefited greatly this Mandela Day when the leadership of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, Umdoni and Ugu Municipalities together with officials, the community and other stakeholders gave back to the community.

This included a clean-up of Umzinto bus and taxi ranks, the Umzinto central business district, several informal settlements and the painting of Tholimfundo Primary School.
Locals were also satisfied to see hundreds of bin bags full of refuse collected on the day.

Umdoni mayor, Sibongile Khathi, joined in on the action and stated that she was pleased this programme’s impact.

“As the municipality, we always preach about working together to build better communities, and the collaboration of stakeholders illustrated on Mandela Day was testimony that we are indeed working together for the benefit of the communities we serve,” she said.
The KZN Legislature and Umdoni Municipality gave thanks to those who made the time and effort to give back to the community in honour of former president Nelson Mandela.

The DA in KwaZulu-Natal led by its provincial leader, Francois Rodgers, also had a productive day in Umzinto by spending their Mandela Day cleaning and painting in Riverside Park near the Umzinto Town Hall.
