The Khanya Hospice staff thanked all its loyal supporters and the public in general for the kind support and help during challenging times.
As an NGO, hospice is not government funded and the continued rise in the fuel price has had a direct and very bad effect on finances.
“We need to put petrol in our vehicles to be able to do our work – we do home based care – and to get to our patients,” explained Neil McDonald, CEO of Khanya Hospice.
Nursing manager Sr Sue Van Rijsbergen added that staff do need reliable cars and petrol, but are thankful that they are able to do what they are doing, thanks to help they’ve received so far.
“And we simply love what we do,” she added. “We do see some very sick, and terminal patients all the time in a huge area and the staff never complain.
