Swimming club shines on national stage
The club is growing from strength to strength, with an increasing number of swimmers qualifying for national-level events.
Margate Swimming Club is making waves once again, with outstanding performances and major achievements by its swimmers.
Alex-Zandré Labuschagne has cemented her place as one of the South Coast’s top swimmers.
She is the only swimmer from the region to qualify for the Senior National Championships, which will take place in Port Elizabeth in April.
Alex-Zandré has also qualified for the SA Schools Swimming Championships for the fifth and final time.
This elite competition, set to take place in Bloemfontein, will be a fitting end to her SA Schools journey, and the club is proud of her.
Fellow club swimmer Dax Herbst has also qualified to compete in the SA Schools Swimming Championships alongside Alex-Zandre.
His hard work has paid off, and he is looking forward to the opportunity to compete on the national stage.
Anneke Griffioen recently competed at the SA Masters Swimming Championships in Durban, delivering outstanding performances and earning a silver medal in the women’s 50-54 year old 100m freestyle.
Her other results included fifth in 50m freestyle. Sixth in 100m breaststroke and seventh in 50m backstroke.
“We are excited to see our athletes compete in the upcoming Level 2, Level 3, and Senior Nationals competitions. With a strong support system and dedicated coaching, the club continues to nurture talented swimmers who represent the South Coast with pride,” said coach Gerhard Labuschagne.
