Tharshin Mudrai of Sezela has just launched his very first CD.

The 24-year-old, who has always had a passion for music, produced a Tamil devotional CD called “Divine Bhajans” which he dedicates to Hindu deities Lord Ganesha, Lord Muruga and Lord Shiva.

“This was my very first CD and it truly was a wonderful experience,” said Tharshin.

The entire production process took Tharshin four months to complete.

“It was so exciting creating my own music for each song and fine-tuning it,” he said.

“Ashley Kisten helped me produce and made the experience all the more exciting because of his professionalism in the music field.”

Tharshin enjoys old and new Tamil and Hindi music as well as chutney music, and hopes to one day release his own chutney CD.

The young musician is a skilled keyboard, guitar and jazz drum player.

His first instrument was a tabla which is a drum-like instrument that originates from India.

Growing up, Tharshin never really looked up to any musicians because he believed that all musicians were unique.

“The only person I looked up to was my father, Strini Mudrai, who has been my musical guru since I was a little boy and who has made me what I am today,” said Tharshin.

“Divine Bhajans” is for people of all ages because even though its made up of old devotional songs, the music behind the words has been modernised.
