An internationally renowned mid-South Coast resident has just celebrated his 122nd birthday.
Yes, that’s right – Henry the Nile Crocodile from Crocworld Conservation Centre near Scottburgh is another year older! And as usual, a birthday bash to celebrate with his fans (both locals and holidaymakers of course) at the conservation centre was in order on December 16.
Visitors were given a free cupcake and had the opportunity to watch as Henry enjoyed his very own birthday meat treat too.
He is believed to be the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity worldwide, and has undoubtedly been a great tourist attraction for the area over the years.
Henry was born in the Okavango Delta in Botswana back in 1900. He was then brought to the conservation centre in 1985 where he has taken to his rather relaxing retirement.
He has fathered thousands of offspring over the years and resides with his six wives. Happy Birthday Henry!
