Scouts movement moulds young future leaders
Scouts focuses on character development, leadership development, skills training and personal fitness.
Scouts is a worldwide youth movement and employs the international Scout programme of informal education with emphasis on practical outdoor activities including camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking and sports.
The objective of the programme is to mould young leaders for the future. It focuses on character development, leadership development, skills training and personal fitness.
The 1st Port Shepstone Scout Group was launched in August last year, and is managed and supported by a wonderful team of local volunteers. These volunteers plan, organise and execute the programme every Tuesday.
Cubs (age group 7-11 years) meet between 16:00 to 17.30 and Scouts (age group 11-18 years) meet between 17.30 to 19:00 at the Guides and Scouts Hall in Mitchell Drive, Port Shepstone.
“We invite interested youth to attend a no-obligation meeting. Come and see what we do before joining. Adult volunteers and any other assistance and contributions will be welcome to develop and sustain the organisation,” said Shamin Maharaj.
