ANC bridges gap between people and party
Provincial chairperson, Siboniso Duma said the ANC can be trusted because things are not what they used be.
The ANC’s Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) in KwaZulu-Natal visited Ward 22 in Murchison recently.
The provincial chairperson, Siboniso Duma, was accompanied by the regional chairperson Mondli Chiliza.
According to Sizophila Mkhize, PEC member of the ANC, the reason for the visit in this area is that there is a gap between the ANC leadership and its people.
“We are here to close that gap because we are chosen by the people, but we end up forgetting that we are here because of them.”
She said they wanted to hear the needs of women and the youth of the ANC in Murchison.
The community raised their concerns. Some mentioned how disappointed they are in the ANC but said they would still vote for it, or not vote at all.
People also complained about water, roads, electricity and RDP houses, job opportunities and how the Expanded Public Works Programme works.
It is alleged this programme only looks out for certain people and those in power only choose people close to them, and not the whole community.
A member of the community said they need to create permanent positions in this programme because it is very painful when a person loses a job.
Duma responded to the people and said that the government has now changed the policy and that people above 35 cannot apply for jobs.
He said this also applies to the private sector, he also mentioned that they also changed the policy that people should have certain experience for a job position.
Duma said the ANC is for everyone in South Africa and they should be part of it.
He said the ANC groomed a lot of politicians in Africa including Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and Robert Mugabe.
