KZN legislature visits Ugu
A meeting scheduled at Gamalakhe ZG hall last Tuesday morning had to be cancelled two hours later, after a lack of communication between RNM and ward councillors.
The KwaZulu-Natal Legislature visited the Ugu District last week, to monitor service delivery to communities.
The visit focused on whether local government is providing basic needs such as water, sanitation and roads.
Four cluster meetings were to be held in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM).

However, a meeting scheduled at Gamalakhe ZG hall on Tuesday morning had to be cancelled two hours later, after a lack of communication between RNM and ward councillors.
According to Ward 5 councillor Phumlani Gumbi and Ward 28’s Bekithemba Zulu, they only received messages informing them about the meeting on Monday evening and were unable to mobilise the community.
Less than 20 people were present including the officials.

The legislature’s Ncamisile Nkwanyana blamed local government for not communicating, saying they had a meeting weeks ago detailing everything about the Tuesday morning meeting.
Other meetings in Oshabeni, KwaLatshoda and KwaMaveshe in Bhobhoyi were all well attended.
People of the district complained mainly about water, as well as roads and potholes.

Legislature officials also met with the municipalities to discuss current projects and visited the relevant sites.
Also, during the visit Inkosi Sazi Ndwalane was sworn in as a member of the legislature.
RNM was contacted for comment, but none was received at the time of going to press.
