Home Affairs extends operating hours

The department usually receives a higher volume of applications during school holidays.

The Department of Home Affairs has temporarily extended operating hours, to meet the growing demand for its services at its various offices, including Port Shepstone.

Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi approved a temporary extension of operating times by two hours at front offices on Tuesday this week from 08:00 to 17:30, to deal with the high demand for Smart ID Cards and passport services.

This extension applies to the 198 modernised Live Capture offices which can process Smart ID Cards and passports which includes the Port Shepstone office.

“The department usually receives a higher volume of applications during school holidays. To meet demand during this period, we have extended operating hours,” said Minister Motsoaledi.
