Apply online for older persons grant
Sassa has capable and well trained officials to assist with any query.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has an online platform for older persons grant applications, which can be accessed from any smartphone.
Sandy Godlwana, senior manager for communications and marketing at Sassa said applying online is easy and the turn around time for approval is the same day, if all the required documents have been submitted and verified.
Applicants must be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee and must not be less than 60 years of age.
“The applicant must not be in receipt of another social grant for him or herself and his or her spouse must comply with the means test and must be in possession of a South African identity card or green bar coded book. If a client or beneficiary has difficulty applying online they can visit any Sassa local office for assistance, we have capable and well trained officials to assist them,”Godlwana added.
She said online applications can be tracked by clicking on the ‘track my application icon’ to find out the status of an application.
“If or when your grant has been approved, you will be paid from the date of your application and money will be paid in cash at designated pay points, via your bank or at other various institutions. If you experience any problems, again you van visit your local Sassa branch to enquire,”Godlwana concluded.
