‘Crazy good vibes’ at Oppi Kus

The weekend's turnout was impressive with a total of 4 022 festival goers attending over the two days.

In the words of South African singer Snotkop – “Oppi Kus Musiekfees het gepomp! Een van my gunsteling feeste in SA! Dankie vir die crazy vibes!”

Snotkop and various other artists including Steve Hofmeyr praised the event as one of the best in the country and thanked the South Coast for a great time.

The two-day event, hosted by Margate Round Table, took place at Douglas Mitchell Sports Grounds last Friday and Saturday.

Snotkop was among the headline acts which included Steve Hofmeyr, Appel, Ricus Nel, Juanita du Plessis, Robbie Wessels, Adam Tas, Jakkie Louw, Wynand and Cheree and local musician Shaun Wulf and his band Element 3 that wowed the large crowds.

Round Tabler Shane Woolley said the turnout was impressive with a total of 4 022 festival goers attending over the two days.

“There were 1 952 people through the door on Friday and 2 070 on Saturday. These figures don’t take into account the Tablers, media or food stallholders working at the event.”

“The event was our largest yet and it was brilliant overall. What a fantastic music festival it was. It ran relatively smoothly,” said Woolley.

He said that the Rotary Club of Port Shepstone used Oppi Kus to collect blankets, clothes and food for the community of Masinenge that was ravaged by fire.

“They were able to collect a bakkie load of items to be distributed.”

Woolley added that Margate Round Table thanks the South Coast community and businesses, visitors, Rotary Club of Port Shepstone and local law enforcement for their continued support.

The Klein Bosveld Slaghuis team prepared mouth watering meals.

He confirmed that the profits would go into Margate Round Table’s welfare fund to be utilised in future welfare projects.
