Welfare helps family in need
Child Welfare Port Shepstone thanked the sponsors and community in general for helping welfare make a difference in the lives of a family.
Child Welfare Port Shepstone recently identified a family in the community which was in need.
And on July 18 decided to do something about it.
They decided to make a project out of it in honour of the late President Mandela and to commemorate his love for children.
“Sponsors within our community took hands with Child Welfare Port Shepstone in assisting them to make this family’s dream come true,” said chairperson Cindy Marais.
“Living in a low-cost, two-room house, this family of six only had two mattresses and a one-plate stove, and the kitchen forms part of the one room where mommy and the three children sleep. There are no windows in this room and they did not have blankets and pillows.”
Two students from Suid-Natal High, namely Monique Pelser and Mia Atkinson, came along to assist with the project as part of their community work outreach.
“Both are contestants for their school’s upcoming beauty pageant,” said Marais.
Child Welfare Port Shepstone thanked the sponsors and community in general for helping welfare make a difference in the lives of a family.
