1 dead, 16 injured in Izotsha accident

It's believed the driver of the vehicle lost control with the result that it crashed into a tree.

One person died and 16 more were injured in a recent accident on the P200 in Izotsha.
The person died on the scene before emergency services arrived.
Chantelle Botha, of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service, said they responded to the incident, following reports of a collision.
When emergency services members arrived they found that a vehicle had lost control and collided into a tree.
Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that in addition to the death, three people had sustained critical injuries, eight people had sustained serious injuries and five people had sustained minor injuries.

One of the critically injured patients was trapped in the vehicle and required specialized rescue equipment to free the patient.
All the patients were stabilised on scene before being transported to the hospital for further care.
