Hospice welcomes volunteers

Donations are needed for local hospice shops as well.

Khanya Hospice reminds communities that it is always in need of volunteers at its shops.

The CEO of the Umkomaas NGO, Neil McDonald, stated that he is grateful to local media houses which have shared their news over the years and for always putting the word out for volunteers.

Through these articles, Neil received new dedicated volunteers. Ruan Buitendach and Nikky van Heerden are welcomed to the team. They will be assisting the Amanzimtoti hospice shop’s manager Ronel van Reenen.

“It’s wonderful to see there are younger people who are willing and able to help us,” said Neil.

Ronel added that it is not always easy having to climb ladders and reaching for items on a high shelf, but she now feels a sense of relief knowing that there is young blood to lend a much-needed helping hand.

Khanya Hospice is getting its shops ready for Christmas and are in need of donations in the form of furniture, bric-a-brac, linen and more. These items can be dropped off at the hospice house in Umkomaas. To find out more, contact hospice on 083 5978985.
