The wonderful aroma of authentically prepared vegetarian breyani wafted throughout the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital’s out-patient department recently as volunteers from Food for Life Port Shepstone provided both patients and staff with a nutritional meal.
The smiles of appreciation upon the faces of the recipients of this delicious bounty was overwhelming and a joy to behold.
One young man was unable to walk and had to cling to his mother’s back. He gave a smile as he received his meal that was truly heart-warming.
Young and old, men, women and children from all walks of life, together with the busy hospital staff, really enjoyed receiving a home cooked meal.
Other areas which benefit from the 1200 meals distributed on a weekly basis by Food For Life include Marburg Clinic, the Port Shepstone CBD, Marburg, Palm View and Sea Park.
Food For Life also distributes meals in Umzimkulu on a monthly basis.
Food For Life is affiliated to Food for Life South Africa which, in turn, is affiliated to Food For Life Global, which collectively provide more than six million plates of vegetarian meals daily.
Food items, such as rice, oil, potatoes, sugar beans, cabbages, frozen vegetables and spices can be either dropped off at Food for Life Port Shepstone, or collection of these items can be arranged with Pat Gungadeen on 078 7410925.
