Excitement as Shoprite opens in Gamalakhe

The store has created 25 new jobs and offers customers access to several in-store fresh food departments.

It was a momentous occasion for Gamalakhe residents as the doors of a long-awaited Shoprite opened recently.

The official opening was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony which saw the attendance of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality leadership, ward councillors and management of the Shoprite Group

A Shoprite store in the area is a dream come true for the residents who could not wait for 08:00 as they grabbed their trolleys, to browse the fully stocked shelves in awe of the low prices and specials.

The Shoprite Group said the Gamalakhe store has created 25 new jobs and offers customers access to several in-store fresh food departments including a meat market, bakery, hot and cold foods deli, and fresh fruit and vegetables.

Customers can also save time by making use of an in-store Money Market counter which offers money transfers, Lotto tickets, paying of municipal bills, topping up data, airtime or electricity, purchasing gift cards or savings stamps, and buying bus, airline or event tickets.

The store will be managed by Ndu Kati who joined the Shoprite Group in 2017 as a trainee manager. Kati’s tenacity and dedication saw him climb the corporate ladder to assistant branch manager before being appointed branch manager at Shoprite Ryder Street and now Shoprite Gamalakhe.

A Shoprite LiquorShop is scheduled to open soon, pending liquor licence approval.
