Moths: ‘We will remember’
Moths are looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces who supported them and joined in Remembrance Day parades over the years.
Remembrance Day serves as a time to remember those who paid the ‘ultimate price’ in World War 1, as well as veterans who have fought and died in war since.
Moina Belle Michael was so taken by a poem called ‘In Flanders Fields’ that she dedicated her life to remembering those who fought in WWI.
Today, those who fought and are fighting in all conflicts are remembered.
South Africans remember all who have fought for the South African armed forces.
The red poppy has become the symbol by which this event is commemorated each year.
The South African Legion and the Moths are dedicated in raising funds to assist veterans and their families.
Moths and friends of the Moths from Splash Rock Shellhole in Port Edward will be distributing poppies to the public at Mac Banana on Saturday, November 11 from 09:00.
Splash Rock Shellhole will have a memorial service at the Methodist Church Hall in Newport Road, Port Edward on Sunday, November 12.
Pastor John Pretorius will conduct the service at 08:30. All denominations are welcome.

This year there will be a parade at the new Wall of Remembrance at Port Edward Country Club on Sunday, November 12 at 11:00. The public is invited to join in this ceremony to remember those veterans who have answered the Sunset Call.
