Margate to host beauty pageant
This first event will be associated with Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate.
It’s time to bring back beauty to Margate!
Get those summer bodies ready for the hottest beauty competition on the South Coast.
Organisers, Caren de Bruin and Madelein Stopforth will host the beauty competition – Mr, Miss and Mrs Margate Mardi Gras 2023/24 – at Margate main beach on December 15.
Madelein is passionate about Margate and the community. She is involved with Mardi Gras, Tidy Towns and community projects.
Caren, who is originally from Klerksdorp, now lives in Hibberdene.

She started her modeling career at the age of 14. Apart from winning many titles all over the country, she reached top five in Miss Margate Super Teen in 1990.
Caren has fond memories of Margate and is excited to ‘bring back’ beauty pageants to the seaside town.
This first event will be associated with Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate.
“No experience in modelling, no problem… we’ve got you,” says the organisers.
There will be a novice and pro category. From the age three to 19+.
Cash prizes and even a getaway trips are up for grabs.
