Bringing Hollywood to the coast
A December event filled with opportunities awaits locals.
The KZN mid-South Coast is on its way to becoming a hub for the film and entertainment industry.
This comes after a collaboration between two local establishments, The Bruce Gounder Film Academy and South Coast Models and Event Entertainment PTY Ltd, which will be bringing a fun and exciting event for the festive season.
A Hollywood-themed Christmas Carnival filled with opportunities for local talents will be held at the film academy premises in Park Rynie on Saturday, December 9.
The academy will be sponsoring an advanced method acting course for 30 people where they will be taught how to work with scripts, professional studio equipment, group acting, be given individual attention and certificates will be issued on completion.
“Anyone can get involved as the aim of this educational carnival is to equip our locals with skills to break into the entertainment industry,” said Bruce Gounder of the academy.
“The academy is always looking for new ways to boost local tourism and we are excited to join hands with the models to promote this big opportunity.”
Bruce also has big plans to open up Fabelbridge Studios locally in the near future, which will be a family-friendly studio inspired by Disney.
Entrance for the Hollywood Christmas Carnival is free and attendees can also expect some great entertainment, fashion shows and music.
The event will be covered by FQ TV – a streaming platform for fashion, food and travel.
Niksha Sevnaran, founder of South Coast Models is elated to be part of this event.
“I have been passionate about the entertainment industry since a young age, and on doing a survey on the South Coast, I found that many people share the same passion as me, but there are no opportunities to grow in the area.”

Since the establishment of her modelling and entertainment group a few years ago, Niksha has been able to successfully boost tourism through concerts and music festivals on the South Coast including karaoke nights, fashion shows, hosting famous DJs, singers, comedians, dancers, and more.
