Free library holiday programmes for children

The aim of the programmes are to motivate children of all ages to make use of their local public library and also to show that libraries are 'fun' and not only for studies.

Libraries throughout the Ugu region will host free holiday programmes for school children of all ages.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipal libraries started their holiday program on December 1.

The aim of the programmes are to motivate children of all ages to make use of their local public library and also to show that libraries are ‘fun’ and not only for studies.

Making book marks, gift boxes, photo frames, kites, scrap book, beaded bracelets, paper flowers or playing board games are just some of the activates planned.

See the dates and times of holiday programmes:

* Albersville Library: December 13, 14, 19, 21 and January 4, 5, 9, 11 from 10:00 to 11:30

* Port Shepstone Library: December 4, 5, 11 and 12 and January 9, 10, 15, 16 from 11:00 to 12:00.

* Southport Library: December 12, 14, 19, 21 and January 3, 5, 9, 11 from 12:30 to 13:30.

* Umtentweni Library: December 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21 from 10:00 to 11:00.

* Hibberdene Library: December 11, 13, 14, 19, 21 and January 9 from 11:00 to 12:00.

* Marburg Library: December 19, 21 and January 3, 5, 7, 9, 13, 15 from 11:00 to 12:00.

* Merlewood Library: December 11, 13, 19, 21 and January 3, 5, 9, 11 from 10:00 to 11:00.

* Izingolweni Library: December 1, 6, 8, 11, 13 and January 4, 5, 13 from 10:00 to 11:00.

* Gamalakhe Library: December 12, 14, 19, 20 and January 4, 5, 10, 11 from 10:00 to 11:00.

* Uvongo Library: Activities will run on December 5, 6, 13, 14 and January 4, 5, 11, 12 from 10:00 to 11:00.

* Margate Library: Activities will run on December 8, 12, 18, 21 and January 3, 9 from 11:00 to 12:00.

*Kwanzimakwe Library: Activities will run on December 6, 7, 12, 13, 18, 19 and January 8, 9 from 11:00 to 12:00.

* Kwandwalani Library will also host programmes.

Do you know? Public libraries have a variety of wonderful services available for their communities which include the following: books, magazines, free E-books, board games such as chess, snakes and ladders, free internet and Wifi, and some even have gaming.

Libraries also assist learners with registration at tertiary universities, computer training, workshops and more.
