Help Bongumusa get a ‘zoom zoom’ wheelchair
The 39-year-old man has been wheelchair-bound since 2017.
Life is hard but even harder for wheelchair-bound Bongumusa Hlongwana (39) from Murchison.
This Christmas, the South Coast community is encouraged to dig deep into their pockets and help make his wish come true, to acquire a new wheelchair.
Bongumusa has been in a wheelchair since 2017 due to spinal tuberculosis (TB).
Spinal TB is usually caused by the hematogenous spread of infection from a central point, which can be in the lungs or another location.
“When I go to a government hospital they say I’m permanently disabled now,” he said.
He has been using a manual wheelchair but is looking for a good and reliable second hand electronic wheelchair or donations, as he is finding life to be a uphill struggle.
“I’m paying someone to help push my wheelchair to the taxi rank. With the Sassa grant I receive, I can’t afford to buy a new one. Please South Coasters help me get donations to get an electronic wheelchair,” he said.
