Chaplains ready to serve
Religious leaders and community activists completed training on chapel history and theology, chaplaincy principles, counselling, stress management, and more.
The International Association of Community Services Chaplaincy (IACSC) South Coast chaplains are ready to serve the community.
Religious leaders and community activists completed training on chapel history and theology, chaplaincy principles, counselling, stress management, death notification, suicide and grief, ethics in chaplaincy, critical incident stress and debriefing.
Pastor Willem Roos of Koinonia Community Margate said the training explained that community service chaplains aim to establish and maintain a relationship between religious and secular segments of society.
It also highlighted the IACSC’s commitment to training chaplains with a caring and concerned spirit for their fellow man while remaining committed to the biblical principle of the life of Jesus Christ.
He said that the association also emphasised its commitment to training chaplains from diverse faith groups, and reiterated that no one cares about what you know until they know you care.
“The training concluded by highlighting the importance of being prepared to hurt or be hurt in the field of chaplaincy, “said Roos.
