Good turnout for Lions beach clean-up
Hibberdene Lions Club looks forward to more clean-ups and community initiatives in the coming year.
Over 15 bags of garbage were collected at a clean-up at Hibberdene main beach recently.
It was spearheaded by the Hibberdene Lions Club led by the President, Brian Porteous and the District Governor of 410E, Lindie van Wyk.
Van Wyk said as Lions they do anything and everything to assist the community. The clean up also aimed to give Hibberdene Lions exposure as they don’t have as many members.
“We also wanted to get the various Lion clubs to work together and it was wonderful to see them joining in. We had representation from Ramsgate, Scottburgh and Pretoria,” she added.
Alcohol bottles and polystyrene food packing were picked up, and all the bags will be collected by a recycling company.
The organiser, Susan Smuts-Steyn thanks the community and the Lions for helping out, and looks forward to more clean-ups in the new year.
Hibberdene Lions also calls on new members to join the club.
