Tweni to find a solution for urban decay
The committee is calling on residents to be part of the change.
To restore pride and enjoyment of living in the suburb of Umtentweni, residents are called on to support a meeting on Thursday, March 7.
The Umtentweni Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Association (URRA) will be hosting a meeting at Port Shepstone Country Club at 17.30, and all residents are urged to attend.
The purpose of the meeting will be to introduce the vision of initiating an Urban Improvement Precinct/Special Rates Area (UIP/SRA) in Tweni.
The roll-out of the UIP/SRA will tend to the following issues: improved security, cleaning and greening, repairs and maintenance.
UIPs are defined areas where the majority of property owners (51%) agree to pay an additional nominal amount for supplementary services, to complement those provided by the municipality.
Petra Rickson from URRA said they feel that they must take this initiative, now, to help improve and maintain our lovely town before it is too late.
Guest speakers have been invited.
