Walk raises awareness on Autism

Walkers spread awareness on autism in Park Rynie and Scottburgh.

Umzinto’s Schola Amoris School hosted an exciting 5km Autism Fun Walk from the Park Rynie beach campsite last Saturday.

The event was held to create public awareness of Autism as well as fundraise for two classrooms.

The principal, Nokuthula Gumede, said that she was grateful to everyone who supported the event and was pleased with the great attendance.

“Everything went well, and our learners and supporters did a fantastic job of spreading awareness in the community,” said Gumede.

People of all ages supported the event.

“Our messages were heard, loud and clear.”

As the walkers made their way through the streets of Park Rynie and Scottburgh, they held their placards high, bearing messages such as, ‘Autism is not a disease’, ‘Stop the hate’ and ‘We walk in your world, now walk in ours’.

The Autism Fun Walk had many supporters.
The school walk was a major success.
‘Disablity rights are human rights’ was one of the many messages sent out to the community during the walk.
