Municipal strike over – refuse bags will be collected asap

Residents are asked to make sure their black bags are kept in a safe place until they are collected.

Refuse bags have not been collected along the coastline this week.

This is apparently due to a municipal strike involving Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) employees.

According to ward councillors the strike has been resolved.

Staff will start collecting bags again, starting with Wednesday’s refuse run today (10th).

They will then do Thursday’s run on Saturday and Friday’s run on Sunday.

The Herald has received no feedback from RNM, but it’s believed the staff have not been paid their overtime, despite numerous promises of payment by the municipality.
