#Elections2024: What is needed to get South Africans to vote?

A Park Rynie resident stated that it is concerning how uninterested people are in voting these days.

A 74-year-old pensioner, Jimmy Moodley from Park Rynie, stated that it is concerning how uninterested people are in voting these days.

Also, Saisha Varden (25) from Umzinto would like to see more young people show an interest in the elections.

Jimmy Moodley

“Every single year, we complain about poor service delivery such as potholes not being patched, verges not maintained, crime always being a problem, etc. And because none of these matters are ever seen to efficiently, it puts one off from voting because you feel as if nothing ever changes. I have always voted, but always been disappointed by the outcome because of service delivery. We need a better South Africa. We need a party capable of change.”

Saisha Varden

“It would be appreciated and hopefully grab more people’s attention if we had proper political parties who have the people’s best interests in mind. I am sure this would encourage more people to vote. People just want something different and are tired of having the same people make the same promises that are never kept. I also would like to personally see more of the youth show interest in the elections as we are determining our own futures.”
