First-time voters Thabile and Snovuyo Cele said they hope for change and a better future.
They said they came to vote so that there can be improvements in their area.

Residents of Nyandezulu, Bomela and Betania were in high spirits on Wednesday, excited to cast their votes.

Some of them were saying that this is their 1994, where they will be casting their votes to get economic freedom.

Most pensioners said they would like to get more money because their current pensions are not enough as prices have gone up.

Elliot Hlongwa and his wife Duduzile said that food is expensive, and they also have to pay for their policies.

“By the time we finish paying for the important things, the money is all gone. Our children are also suffering because everything is just so expensive.”

Dodana Zinya said he is tired of the load shedding and the condition of the roads, so he cast his vote for change.

Bridget Venter of Shelly Beach said she is hoping for a party in power that will make a huge difference in this country.

Minnie van der Merwe said she believes that people should all stand together as one.

“We need to realise that the country does not belong to the ANC but to South Africans. We need a government that has morality, integrity and honesty, and I pray that all South Africans feel the same.”

Voters said everything was quiet and that they received a great service from the IEC.
