Shelly Centre’s Ultimate Cook-Off, an exciting culinary event showcasing the exceptional talent of local amateur chefs, will take place at the centre this Saturday, July 13 from 11:00 to 14:00.
The finalists competing for the title are Bradlee Pillay (30), Ntombi Mzelemu (28), Mbali Jwara (26) and Kaylyn Choudree (24).

Palesa Green-Thompson, marketing manager of Shelly Centre, said that from the tens of entries they received, these four contestants stood out with their creativity, skill, and passion for cooking.
“We are excited to see them compete in what promises to be a thrilling and delicious competition,” she said.

Shelly Centre’s Ultimate Cook-Off competition will be conducted in two parts: the semi-finals and the finals, each featuring a mystery box challenge. Contestants will have a limited time to create culinary masterpieces from the mystery ingredients provided, showcasing their ability to innovate under pressure.
Three distinguished panel of judges will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the event:
- Chef Thigam Nathoo: Academic Director of the South African Hospitality Institute Pty LTD, renowned for her culinary knowledge and dedication to nurturing new talent.
- Nomveliso Vicky Ntshulana: A successful and popular food content creator from the South Coast, known for her engaging and inspiring culinary content.
- Roxanne Wardman: Winner of Masterchef SA Season 3 and a prominent content creator, celebrated for her innovative approach to cooking.
These esteemed judges will evaluate the contestants based on creativity, presentation, and taste, ensuring a fair and exciting competition.
“We are confident that this event will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate local talent and bring the community together in the spirit of friendly competition,” said Green-Thompson.
