Wolf pack sweeps through Ivungu reserve

The patch of paradise is indeed worth protecting.

The good news is that a recent snare patrol in the Ivungu River Conservancy Reserve proved to be a great success.

It’s grateful thanks to Ivungu River Conservancy committee member Daniél Louise Ludick, who organised the bush raid.

Together with a fantastic pack from the Wolf Security dog unit and wildlife expert Paddy Norman, the trail was thoroughly searched. Danièl reported that, fortunately, there were no snares or signs of active poaching.

A duffel bag was found just off the trail a couple of metres from Mamba Rock, and Paddy uncovered an abandoned shelter a couple hundred metres upstream of the stream, which will need monitoring.

“Thanks to all involved. Our patch of paradise is indeed worth protecting,” said Judi Davis of the conservancy.
