Devotees observe Thaipoosam Kavady

The public Kavady will be held on February 16.

Thaipoosam Kavady which is observed by many Hindus around the world started last Sunday, and some South Coast temples will continue with the festival until February 16.

* The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Temple hoisted its flag last Sunday. Weekday prayers will start at 18:00 and at 15:00 on weekends. The temple’s chariot will visit Port Shepstone and surrounding areas this Sunday (9th), from 08:30.
Thai Poosam Kavady will be observed on February 11, with hawan at 08:00. The public Kavady will be held on February 16, with hawan at 05:30. Take note: Deshan ‘Styler’ Naidoo and the Nadaswaram Rendition group, namely, Thirushen Kengan and Dharashen Kengan will join the devotees and members of the temple this Saturday (8th) from 16:00.

* The Port Shepstone Tamil Association holds daily obayams at 18:00.
The temple’s chariot will visit the surrounding neighbourhoods this Saturday (8th), from 08:00. The main Kavady prayer will be held on February 11 at 08:00.

* The Umzinkuluwana Shri Siva Soobramoniar Temple will observe its main Kavady on February 11, from 07:00. The public Kavady will be held on February 16 from the NPC grounds at 07:00.
