Support Ashton’s Cupcakes of Hope fundraiser

Now Ashton wants to be part of giving that same hope and love to others.

Ashton Dry is hosting a Cupcakes of Hope fundraiser at Southcity Christian School and Southcity College this Friday (7th).

The Grade 12 learner said the fundraiser, to be held during break time, will help raise money for children fighting cancer, and it’s something really close to his heart.

Ashton was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia on February 8, 2019.

He spent most of that year in the hospital going through chemo, radiation, and finally, a bone marrow transplant in November.

Now, after five years in remission, he’s incredibly grateful to officially be cancer-free.

“Since this marks exactly six years since my diagnosis, I thought it would be really special to hold the fundraiser around that date,” he said.

Ashton explained that during his treatment, Cupcakes of Hope made a huge difference for him and so many other children.

“They visited us in the hospital, brought gifts to lift our spirits, and even helped with medical bills,” he said.

“Before I was even at Southcity, the school held a Beanie Day for me, and I can’t tell you how much that meant. It made me feel so loved and supported. It shows just how much small acts of kindness can mean to kids going through tough times.”

Ashton now wants to be part of giving that same hope and love to others.
