New post for former municipal manager
Max Mbili was announced as the new HOD of Human Settlements in KZN.
Former municipal manager of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM), Sihle Maxwell Mbili, has been appointed as the new KZN HOD for Human Settlements.
Mbili served at the municipality for almost 10 years before joining human settlements in 2023.
Mbili graduated from UKZN with a degree in public administration as his specialisation focused on public administration and development.
“I have 26 years of experience in public service, and I have been in senior management for 17 years.”
He joined the department in May 2023 as the chief director of corporate service and was announced as the new HOD on Monday this week.
The department’s MEC, Sboniso Duma, made the announcement and said that Mbili has been given the responsibility to unite all categories of staff across head office and regions and ensure that they all inspire hope for a better future.
“Importantly, we understand that to fulfil the needs of the voters, we need all categories of staff to be motivated. We want all workers at head office and in district offices to go the extra mile in service of the people of this province. In order to respond with speed to the needs of the voters, we have appointed the new HoD.”
Duma also mentioned that the appointment has been welcomed by members of the Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements.
Mbili also serves as a member of the Institute for Local Government Management, member of the Progressive Professional Forum, member of the Institute of Directors of South Africa and a founder and Member of Umthombo Wolwazi Research Institute.
Mbili said that under his leadership, RNM achieved clean audits and was singled out as the best-run municipality for many years.
“I was also selected as the best municipal manager in the province. I was instrumental in the building of 4000 houses in the municipality.
