Second chance for boy (3) after near drowning in Umzumbe

The quick actions of the people on scene were commended by medics.

A boy (3) was pulled from the water off a beach in Umzumbe after an unknown period of time, and taken to the lifeguards to administer oxygen.
Glen Preston of Med-Evac said medics recently responded to the emergency call regarding the near drowning incident.
He explained that when medics arrived, the boy was in a critical condition.
“Our team took over care, providing medical interventions including oxygen, intravenous medication, and nebulisation. We were able to stabilise the boy before transporting him to a medical facility for further treatment,” he said.
Preston commended the quick actions from the people on scene, saying their swift response played a vital role in the outcome.
”Our thoughts are with the boy and his family and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.”
