Strike: Refund ratepayers says councillor
A reply to the Notion of Motion will be given in 30 days.
Clr Tessa Perryman, on behalf of the DA caucus, read her Notice of Motion during a council meeting on Tuesday last week.
She tabled for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) to refund all ratepayers who were unfairly billed for refuse collection during the municipal strike period of November and December 2024 and January 2025.
She also noted that the ratepayers and residents of RNM did not have their refuse collected as per the schedule through no fault of their own.
She further added that ratepayers and residents had to incur additional costs and unhealthy conditions to have their refuse removed by private contractors and members of the public.
The council resolved to give municipal leadership 30 days to consider matters and come back with an appropriate response at the next council meeting.
