Springbok Scouting award for Mayah Potgieter

Mayah Potgieter of the 1st Margate Scout Troop has achieved the highest honour in Scouting, the Springbok Award.

This prestigious achievement recognised her exceptional dedication, leadership and commitment to Scouting values.

The Springbok Award, the pinnacle of the Scout advancement programme, is awarded to Scouts who demonstrate outstanding skills in leadership, outdoor adventure, community service, and personal development.

Mayah, who has also achieved much success in the world of surfing, earning this award by completing rigorous challenges, leading community projects, and showcasing remarkable resilience and determination.

“We are incredibly proud of Mayah. Earning the Springbok Award is no small feat, and she has shown unwavering dedication and perseverance,” said Caitlin Morton, Troop Scouter.

Mayah Potgieter receives the Springbok Award from Garth Kloppenborg, Scout South Africa Regional Commissioner.

A special award ceremony was held to celebrate this milestone, attended by fellow Scouts, Troop Leaders, parents, and representatives from Scouts South Africa.

The event highlighted Mayah’s accomplishments and her contributions to both the Scouting movement and the broader community.
