Umdoni approves adjustment budget

The adjusted operational revenue budget amounts to R403m, and the adjusted operational expenditure budget is R449m.

Umdoni Local Municipality’s adjustment budget for the 2024/25 financial year was unanimously adopted by council last week.

Mayor Mbali Cele-Luthuli presented the mid-year adjustment for adoption, which focused on the financial sustainability of Umdoni by restoring public finances and upholding the dignity of the people.

The capital budget has been duly adjusted and increased by R14m to R64m.

“This adjusted capital budget reflects our commitment to investing in our communities across the municipality to enhance service delivery and foster job creation through economic development,” said Cele-Luthuli.

The capital budget will see the completion of various infrastructure development projects while beefing up resources, which includes the Malangeni bridge, procurement of skip loader bins to improve waste management and refuse collection services and the construction of Umzinto Mechanical Workshops, to name a few.

The adjusted operational revenue budget amounts to R403m, and the adjusted operational expenditure budget is R449m.

Cele-Luthuli highlighted that the municipality’s budget adjustment adopted by council was motivated by the leaders’ deep desires at both the political and administrative levels to continue servicing the people of Umdoni and ensure its development.
