Mid-South Coast local Captain Kishore Giani of FCS Port Shepstone was honoured at the Oceanic Restaurant in Port Shepstone, where close friends and colleagues celebrated his retirement on March 7.
This comes after 38 years of dedicated service to the Saps.
After qualifying at the Wentworth Police College, he served at Sawoti Saps. He then moved to the K9 Unit in 1990, where he worked as a patrol and explosives handler and often acted as unit commander.
He was drawn to the detective environment at Umkomaas in 1997 and continued there until his move to FCS Port Shepstone in 2019, where he put down roots.
A hard worker and disciplined detective, he played a key role in investigating several serious cases over the years and promoted the image of the unit and Saps.
Giani is deeply invested in his local community and served on the disciplinary committee at Umzinto Secondary, is an active member of Inkhanyezi Foundation for the Disabled, and is currently the deputy chairperson of the Park Rynie Civic Association, as well as the chairperson of District 49, which is a place of safety.
He has a successful marriage of 38 years, strong family values, and sound spiritual principles and beliefs, which are rewarded in his three prosperous children and a granddaughter, whom he says keeps him on his toes and brings endless joy to the family.
At the farewell, speeches by colleagues and senior officers explained Giani’s contributions, both entertaining and sincere.
Furthermore, his knowledge, wisdom and discipline are attributes highly sought after by police members, and Giani proved that he was never lacking in this regard.
After the formalities, guests enjoyed a sumptuous and memorable meal together and took a trip down memory lane.
