No jokes, fuel price to drop on April 1

If current trends continue, the reduction could surpass R1 per litre.

This is not an April Fool’s Day joke for next month. South African motorists could see a significant fuel price decrease in April, providing much-needed relief after months of increases.

Latest data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF), released on March 12, suggests that petrol prices could drop by up to 98 cents per litre, while diesel could decrease by around 86 to 87 cents per litre.

If current trends continue, the reduction could surpass R1 per litre. This would bring the cost of 95 Unleaded down to approximately R20.55 at the coast and R22.34 inland, while 93 Unleaded could drop to around R21.09.

Although these predictions are promising, fuel prices remain subject to change due to various economic factors. The final adjustments will be announced closer to month-end.
