Girl Guides collect food

This project also contributes towards the girls qualifying for their community service badge.

It has been a busy time for guiding.

The Rotary Club of Shelly Beach, assisted by the Port Shepstone Girl Guides, held a drive to collect non-perishable foods for Reinhardt’s Place recently.

Reinhardt’s Place in Pumula is a home that provides permanent and temporary care for people with multiple disabilities.

Together, they collected two trolleys of food and also sold some raffles to raise funds for an overseas trip for two of the Rangers.

This project also contributes towards them qualifying for their community service badge, and where budget also plays a part.

“More than 115 non-perishable items were collected for the 115-year celebration badge,” said Panda Jolene Evans.

She thanks the shoppers who contributed towards this good cause and the Southcoast Mall management for permission to use their centre.

“We are grateful and thankful to live in a community who are so giving and readily help organisations such as ours to help others,” she said.

On the same day, on the other side of town at Harbour View SPAR, the Rangers were fundraising by selling boerewors rolls.

“A special thank you to Harbourview SPAR for making their facility available, and once again, to the community for supporting our sales,” said Panda.
