Flood victims receive more help

More assessments are being conducted, and assistance will be given where needed.

Minister of Human Settlements Thembisile Simelane joined local leaders and visited various families in Umdoni who were affected by the heavy rains recently.

She was joined by MEC Sboniso Duma, mayor Mbali Cele-Luthuli, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality mayor Zodwa Mzindle, and Ugu District Municipality, among other government departments.

The leadership visited the Mngoma family of three in Ward 16. The family was assisted with a temporary relief unit they will utilise as an interim shelter.

The family was also provided with essentials to continue living as normally as possible under the current circumstances.

The family was informed that communication will run efficiently between the municipality and the various sector departments to ensure that the affected communities are assisted in the shortest turnaround time.
